Merrimack, NH is a town in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Despite sharing a name with Merrimack County, New Hampshire, the town of Merrimack is in a different area. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, Merrimack, NH has a population almost 25,500.
The very first known settlers of Merrimack, NH arrived sometime after the last ice age. By the late 17th century, European settlers had arrived. The town received its name from the Pennacook Indians. "Merrimack" was word used by Native Americans to describe a type of fish, which made up a large population of the Merrimack River.
