The town of Salem is located in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, situated north of Boston. Today, Salem is both a marketing and distribution center. Salem, NH is home to Canobie Lake Park, a major amusement and entertainment attraction, and the Mall at Rockingham Park.
The area that is now Salem, NH was first settled in 1652. By 1736, Salem was known as the "North Parish" of Methuen, Massachusetts. Eventually, the North Parish name was replaced with Salem, after Salem, MA. The town was officially incorporated in 1750. The famous Canobie Lake Park was established in 1902 to encourage leisure excursion on trolleys. Today, Canobie Lake Park is a major attraction in Salem, NH.
